COVID-19 Update 2: Membership Night

Hello everyone,

It's been about a month since our last communication and we want to provide an update to what we have planned going forward with the APICS Portland Chapter.

First, we are very excited to announce that we will be conducting a FREE virtual meeting for our Membership Night on May 21! The meeting will be coordinated through Zoom. After registering for this event, you will receive the meeting details such as the URL, Meeting ID, and password to log into the event. During Membership Night, we plan to hold our yearly elections, do a bit of fun supply chain trivia, and have a panel session. It's an important night for the chapter as it is the last meeting that we will have until September, so your participation would be greatly appreciated!

Many people have reached out to us about conducting a virtual event like this during the quarantine, but we're here to also kick it up a notch. The APICS Portland Chapter recognizes that things may be difficult during these challenging times, and we wanted to do everything we can to help our community. That is why for this event, we are working with the Oregon Food Bank. They have seen demand increase for food assistance of up to 70% and we would like to do our part. While registration for this event is free, you will have the option purchase your registration ticket at $0 or in $5 increments up to $30, and 100% of all purchases will go to the Oregon Food Bank at the end of the evening. Even better, the APICS Portland Chapter will also pitch in with donations as well! You can register for this event by clicking HERE

As far as classes go, the APICS Portland Chapter have decided to host virtual classes during the summer term. We are still organizing on what type of classes to offer, so if you are interested in a particular course (CPIM PART 1CPIM PART 2CSCP, or CLTD preparatory courses), please let us know by emailing us at [email protected]. Your input will help us decide on how to allocate our resources to plan out what is best for the membership.

The end of the board year is coming fast, and it's heartbreaking that we could not end it together with a nice dinner and meeting with everyone in person. As supply chain professionals, we know that things can change at any moment, and an essential skill in all of this is the ability to adapt, overcome, and succeed. We will get through this difficult time as members in an organization, as neighbors in our community, and as friends and family.

Please stay safe out there, and I'll see you all in our virtual Membership Night!

Sincerely,

Charlie Tang MBA
