APICS Portland Chapter - 2019 Fall Newsletter

Hello everyone,

This is your friendly neighborhood APICS Portland Chapter President, welcoming you to the 2019-2020 board year! I hope everyone has had a very fun and exciting summer. The Portland Chapter board of directors have gotten together in July and August to map out our plan for this board year with emphasis on what we can do to better serve our membership. We have planned a lot of exciting events with engaging speakers, and joint meetings with other professional organizations. We are even switching things up a bit with a Supply Chain Horror Stories event in October! Be sure to check out our website to see what's up and coming!

Speaking of our website, over the summer we have completely redesigned it! We have received a lot of feedback from our membership about the usability of our website, and this year we jumped right in to address all of the issues head-on. We have simplified everything, made prep courses and events clear, provided ways of seeing what else is going on, and even added some sections to address questions on maintaining your CPIM, CSCP, and CLTD certifications. We even made the website much easier to use on your mobile devices so our information is always available at your fingertips, no matter where you are. This redesign has been a long time coming, and we're excited to start off this year with a fresh-look.

As for our events, we're excited to kick this year off strong with our September PDM featuring Richard Brown, President of Boxmaker. He will be speaking on digital print for corrugated packaging and how it has alleviated some of the typical stresses of every day supply chain such as long lead times, high minimum order quantities, and inventory obsolescence. Be sure to register for the event as soon as you can to get the early bird pricing!

Lastly, the APICS Portland Chapter is heading to the ASCM 2019 Conference in Las Vegas in a few weeks! If you are heading to conference, please reach out to us so we can formally invite you to a get-together dinner. You can reply directly to this email, and we'll reach out to you when plans are finalized.

Last year was a great year for us in terms of membership engagement, and we look forward to continuing to connect with you at our upcoming events, prep classes, plant tours, and workshops. If you have any questions about certifications and what we can do to help you advance your career, please feel free to reach out to us. We're here to help support you in any way we can.
